Of the 4 subjects that I am taking, History of Art (The Western Perspective) is my favorite.
In class, the instructor will introduce us to a period and artists of that period.
We will study the characteristics of the period, the style of artist as well.
Then we will do a visual analysis on his paintings.

This is a piece of work that was heavily worked over. There is a thick layer of paint.
They are more than just a bunch of people getting their portrait done.

All of the figures are staring out at us, the viewers. The five figures with hat are rich and the one without is their servant.
The central figure's mouth is slightly open. His gestures suggests that he is making a comment.
The figure on the left is getting up from his seat. His finger is on a page of his book so that he can remember where he was reading.
The left figure stands to greet us. Suddenly we become one of their company.
The artist Rembrant is famous for his style of external and internal unity.
He united the figures in the painting by having other figures submitting to the central figure.
He united us the viewers with the figures in the paintings.
I absolutely < 3 it.
